Word has recently been received of the death (on 7th January 2010, aged 79) of Eric Shimmin Greggor who will be best remembered for scoring four goals in Peel’s 5-1 victory against Onchan (Lawrence Quirk netting the other) in the 1954-55 Combination League decider between the leaders of the North and South sections, played on 12.03.1955. More details on Eric in due course.

26/12/2009 - Railway Cup 'returns' to Peel (26.12.2009)

Peel secured the Railway Cup this afternoon for a record 21st occasion following a match of contrasting fortunes against age-old rivals Rushen United at the Bowl.

The southerners started the better side; however Peel's improvement prior to half-time culminated in Kerron Christian's goal from short range five minutes before the interval.

The match became more open following the 64th minute double sendings off (for Kerron Christain and Grant Dawson) and with Daniel Bell and Terry Rigaux breaking from midfield, Johnny Myers with a little more luck could well have added to his 76th minute goal, which sealed the match.

Chris Cain was a deserved Man of the match for his overall contribution, whilst Daniel Bell and Johnny Myers can not have been far away for their second half displays.

The victory was especially sweet following a week of turmoil where the continued involvement of Rick Holden plus the eligibility of Terry Rigaux to appear in the Final had been the subject of much speculation and discussion.

05/09/2009 - First 10 goal haul for 9 years

The first team's outstanding 11-0 victory at St. John's this afternoon was the first occasion that they had notched double figures for over nine years.

The last time they reached this total was on 23rd May 2000 when they demolished Police 16-0 at Groves Road to secure their first Division One title since 1984.

Scorers on that famous night were Martin Costain 6, Chris Hawke (3), Kevin McGarvey (3) Nick Hurt (2) and Chris Cain (2).

09/08/2009 - Calum moves on.

Calum Gallagher (along with team mate Liam Harrison) has been granted a transfer to St. John's United after one season back at Douglas Road.

Calum 'hopes to play on a more regular basis' at his new Club and it is true that only 14 of his 30 appearances last campaign were from the kick-off.

Calum extended his Peel senior career record to 70 goals in 140 appearances and is wished well for the future.

Former Island Iternational Phillip Mayers has signed a transfer form to D.H.S.O.B., one of his previous sides following two seasons at Douglas Road.

Phil scored 2 goals in 27 appearances for Peel during his spell at the Club, which was blighted by injury, and is wished well for the future.
