| Notes: |
Peel, without needing to get out of first gear, easily overcame a very poor Castletown team whose over zealous tackling in the second half left a lot to be desired not helped by a less than firm refereeing performance by Alan Cowin.
Peel had a lot of territorial possession in the first half without creating many clear-cut chances. However they were rewarded with a penalty in the 20th minute when Terry Rigaux was brought down in the box.
Johnny Myers struck the penalty well but too close to the 'keeper and he saved well to his right.
Peel were not to be denied and in the last minute of the half, Kevin Megson neatly tucked a through ball past the advancing 'keeper to break the deadlock. Half-time : Castletown 0 Peel 1
The second half certainly had a lot more tempo to it than the first.
Two minutes into the half Johnny Myers was booked for an over zealous tackle on a Castletown forward.
Peel were rewarded with their second goal in the 57th minute when a Johnny Myers header was tipped onto the bar by the Castletown goalkeeper, which dropped down and was forced over the line from close range by Robert Cottier.
Lee Gale was forced to leave the field in the 67th minute with a hip injury following a tackle from a Castletown defender who was lucky to escape with just a yellow card.
The match was sealed in the 82nd minute with a trademark Johnny Myers free kick from 25 yards.
Final score – Castletown 0 Peel 3.
