| Notes: |
Gymnasium adopted a formation that placed many bodies behind the ball when on the defensive though broke out with pace when they had the opportunity. Peel therefore had much of the possession; however it was not until close on half-time that they started to create serious chances. 40 Kevin Megson corner - keeper Rob Slinger fisted out to Marc Kelly whose shot rattled the bar at the Douglas Road end. 41 A minute later a Nigel Shimmin shot struck the bar from the left hand side of the area. 45 Lee Gale's cross from the right was met with a glancing header from Chris Cain which just cleared the bar. Just before half-time Mark Connor crossed low into the area and Nick Bowden was well placed at the far post to give the visitors the lead against the run of play. H-T 0-1 55 The ball was played across the area by Marc Kelly to Terry Rigaux, whose shot flashed wide. 62 Marc Kelly corner - Rob Cottier's header onto the post. 73 Persistence by Kerron Christian retained the ball on the bye line. He played the ball into the area where it was cleared though only to Marc Kelly who blasted in the equalizer through a packed penalty area. 88 Kerron Christian's shot on the turn was well saved by Slinger. F-T 1-1 92 Stinging shot by Terry Rigaux opens the extra time proceedings. 104 From a throw in, the ball reaches Terry Rigaux, subject of so much (unfinished) discussion this week, and his low shot finds the corner of the net to give Peel the lead. 'H-T' 2-1 A Kerron Christian effort is helped onto the post - the fourth time Peel have tested the frame of the goal. 113 Juan Killip plays in Terry Rigaux in space, who cuts inside a delivers a cool finish to seal the match for the westerners. 'F-T' 3-1 |
